Description

The t:slim X2 is a technologically advanced insulin pump designed to simplify the process of insulin delivery for people with diabetes. You’ll control your t:slim X2 from its built-in color touchscreen, which is easy to read and intuitive to use. The pump also offers Bluetooth connectivity features, which allow it to share information with other electronic devices.

In addition to the t:slim X2’s own capabilities, people with diabetes can use this insulin pump along with the Dexcom G6 CGM system. When doing so, they can choose between two powerful predictive technologies. These are known as Control-IQ (which can predict glucose levels half an hour in the future and react accordingly) and Basal-IQ (which can pause insulin delivery when the system expects a user’s glucose level to drop below 80 mg/dL).

Features

  • 90-day memory for insulin data storage
  • Pump construction is durable and watertight
  • Control-IQ can automatically deliver correction boluses§
  • Built-in bolus calculator
  • Compatible with t:connect® Diabetes Management Application

Uses

With the t:slim X2, people with diabetes can get the insulin doses they need without painful, inconvenient injections. They can control the pump with an integrated touchscreen. For added functionality, diabetes patients can use their t:slim X2 in conjunction with the Dexcom G6.

FAQ

If you observe insulin leaking from a cartridge’s base or pigtail, the cartridge will need to be disposed of and replaced. During this process, be sure to fill the new cartridge while it is off the pump. On the other hand, insulin around the cartridge’s fill port may have been left over from the filling process; to check this, wipe the insulin away with a tissue and look for any additional leakage.

Tandem offers a four-year warranty covering pump defects that arise during normal use. You can find more information on this warranty here.

The t:slim X2 is watertight, and has been tested to a depth of three feet for up to half an hour. However, this product is not waterproof. Tandem has encouraged users not to wear their pumps while showering or swimming, as well.

This device can deliver glucose while you sleep. Depending on your preferences, you can set up a sleep schedule or activate the pump’s sleep mode manually.

Currently, the t:slim X2 has only received approval for use with Humalog (Eli Lilly Insulin Lispro) U-100 insulin and NovoLog/NovoRapid (Novo Nordisk Insulin Aspart) U-100 insulin.

To see how Control-IQ is adjusting your insulin delivery, simply check your pump’s status screen. You can also review a list of your boluses by referring to the pump’s bolus history report.

This technology can pause insulin delivery for a minimum of five minutes. In a two-and-a-half hour window, it can suspend insulin for up to two hours as needed.

*38% smaller than MiniMed 630G and 670G and at least 28% smaller than MiniMed 530G, Animas Vibe and Omnipod System. Data on file, Tandem Diabetes Care.

†Dexcom CGM sold separately. Transmitter can only be paired with one medical device (either a Dexcom receiver or t:slim X2 insulin pump) and one consumer device (phone or tablet) at the same time.

‡Tested to 3 feet for 30 minutes (IPX7).

§Users must still bolus for meals and actively manage their diabetes. If glucose values are predicted to be above 180 mg/dL, Control-IQ technology calculates a correction bolus using the Personal Profile settings and a target of 110 mg/dL and delivers 60% of that value. An Automatic Correction Bolus will not occur within 60 minutes of a bolus that has been delivered or cancelled.
